National Technology Day is celebrated every year on May 11, to mark Indian technological advancement. The day, May 11, has been declared National Technology Day by the Indian Government in order to commemorate the history of India's technological capability and expertise. The day holds importance of its own, as on this particular day, India achieved a huge technological progression. It was only on May 11, 1998, when India successfully tested 5 nuclear powered bombs in Pokhran, Rajasthan, to demonstrate its defence capability. This is regarded as one of the significant moments of Indian history. In this regard, Department of Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and MCA Department in association with IIC, GLBITM organized a Debate Competition on “Role of Technology in Education” on occasion of National Technology Day (11th May 2023) from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

52 participants attended the event. Pragya Pandey (MCA, 1st year), Gaurav Raj (EEE, 3rd Year) Shalu Tulsyan (MCA, 1st year) are the winners of the competition.
Some Debater speaks in favor and some in oppose of the topic. Debaters discussed that technology is useful in teaching for the new generation and has more flexibility. Advances in technology makes online teaching more effective. Online education helps to save money that they need to spend on campus stay, food, and parking.

Some Debaters on the other hand discussed that the student who resides in the remote areas finds it difficult to access online education due to poor internet connectivity which may affect their learning. In the online mode of education, the teacher cannot monitor the students directly they need to be more self-responsible for their learning. Offline education allows students to meet their teachers to clarify their doubts directly and improve their clinical practice skills
In conclusion, they said that technology is important but we should be aware that when to use it and why to use it.
