Awareness Program on Govt of India Initiative - Drug-free India Campaign

The Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Shri Thawaarchand Gehlot in the presence of Ministers of State, Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, Shri Ramdas Athawale & Shri Ratan Lal Kataria launched the website for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan(NMBA) on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2021. The Day was observed worldwide to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a sustainable world free of substance abuse. The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, which is the nodal ministry for Drug Demand Reduction, implements various programmes for the drug abuse prevention across the country.

In view of this the GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management Greater Noida and Social Welfare Department Govt of UP have organized an awareness program on Drug-free India Campaign for students dated 25th October, 2021.
The programme started with Welcome Address by Dr. Rajeev Agarwal, Director GLBITM. The invited speakers Shri Virendra Kumar Srivastava (Chief Veterinary Officer), Shri Hement Kumar (District Statistics Officer), Dr Sweta (District Tobacco Control Cell) Dr. Sumedha Kushwaha (NGO activist) & Shri Shailendra Bahadur Singh (District Social Welfare Officer) were discussed about the issues and challenges faced by the person, family and society due to the drug addiction.

These programs help the youth and the adolescents to acquire the knowledge, attitude and skills that are required to make informed choices and decisions and understand the consequences of drug use. It will empower students to contribute to the creation of drug- free environment in which they can learn and live. It is important to sensitize students at an early age and reinforce the same message at later stage. Around 200 participants were attended the session. At the end, Convener Dr. Mahaveer Singh Naruka, Professor, EEE Department convey vote of thanks.
