Five days online Faculty Development Program on Enhancing Teaching Competency

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at G.L. Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management, Greater Noida organized an online five days Faculty Development Program on Enhancing Teaching Competency from 26th May to 30th May 2020. Prof. A. K. Khare, former Pro-Vice Chancellor AKTU Lucknow and Prof. Satish Chand, Professor GLBITM Greater Noida were the eminent speaker in the FDP. The FDP was started on 26 May, 2020 with a welcome addressed by Dr. SS Chauhan. Among more than 50 participants from different institutes, 15 participants gave voluntary their presentation on different selected topics. Major course contents covered in the FDP were Mechanics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines and Design. The FDP emphasized on participants becoming “experts” on any aspect of a topic, and then sharing their expertise with others. This exercise was to learn new/alternate methods of teaching. “Each one Teach rest” principle was practiced, wherein one faculty becomes a teacher and the rest students, in rotation. This activity involves faculty becoming “experts” on one some aspect of a topic, then sharing their expertise with others. This exercise is very useful to learn new/alternate methods of teaching the ‘Topic’ by peer teaching, brainstorming, developing ideas, and if time permits, researching. At the end of session a brainstorming session was conducted to get fruitful outputs. The response from the participants was overwhelming and they also demanded for the next version of the FDP as soon as possible.
